ABOUT
ST. ROSE OF LIMA SCHOOL
|
The St. Rose of Lima School in Gris-Gris, Haiti, began as a chapel school many years before the chapel became a parish more than two decades ago. As the student body population has grown, the school has moved to increasingly larger buildings, but until the new school for pre-school through primary grades was completed in the summer of 2007, these earlier buildings were one-room schools for all student grade levels.
Three classrooms were added to the new school in 2016. The addition of these classrooms brought the total to 13 and provided capacity for grades 7 and 8 at the school beginning the academic year of 2016-17. We hope to add classrooms for the four remaining secondary grades in the future. If you would like to make this happen, become a Builder by donating HERE. For many years St. Rose students have consistently scored exceptionally high on national tests with a few of the students scoring among the highest in all of Haiti. The parents of students give high praise for the education their children receive at St. Rose School. This has been accomplished with skilled and dedicated administrators, teaching staff and teacher training support and the oversight and leadership of pastors of St. Rose of Lima Parish, former and current. In addition to an excellent education, the students of St. Rose are given a hot meal every school day. For some of them, it is their only meal of the day. |
